Spring approaches in Gocek. We have just been over for a working week - a last minute decision - lots of pre season jobs done and a chance to catch up with all our Turkish friends emerging from a restful 3 months post 2010 season and busy revamping and sprucing up their shops and restaurants for April opening. The trees are laden with citrus fruits - lemons, mandarins and pink grapefruit. The garden is bursting with life and the sun shines most days although we are grateful for the log fire in the evenings.

February is here and bookings are well under way. Gocek remains a piece of paradise - a place to relax, enjoy some sun, delicious food and genuine hospitality. Somewhere to escape the doom and gloom that seems to be with us in the UK. We are off to Strasbourg this weekend to visit three of our French families who have stayed with us several times during the past few years - a real treat for us to be on the receiving end! We are really looking forward to catching up, seeing the sights and sampling good food, wine and champagne! On our return we will be counting the weeks until we return to Turkey mid April. We still have some vacancies in June and July for those who have not got around to thinking of holidays yet!

Back to UK - snow ice and freezing temperatures!

It has been a shock returning to UK - we arrived 3 weeks ago and have been thrown into WINTER! We had a very busy and enjoyable season with many new guests and old faces too! Our last sailing week in October was rather wet but our last two working weeks were beautiful and sunny. We were able to do a lot of cutting back in the garden and our yacht Sevinc is out of the water for the winter, awaitng routine work next spring. Bookings for next year have got off to a record start, with some key weeks already reserved. Gocek remains as lovely as ever and offers a relaxing holiday with genuine Turkish hospitality. Many of our guests having been five or six times, have become good friends, and we are looking forward to catching up with news in 2011.

İt is mid May and our first guests are enjoying fantastic weather - summer is here with bright blue skies and sunshine - temperatures already reaching 29c but with cooler mornings and evenings. Gocek is looking very attractive with flowers in full bloom and everyone has finished pre season preparations. Our houses are painted and the garden revamped so we are looking forward to taking Sevinc for a sail and hope to be away for a week. We still have vacancies in October but with so many repeat guests and new ones too we have filled our calendar earlier than usual so we have a busy season ahead.

March fast approaches, and whilst the UK weather is still decidedly wintry, Gocek is warm and Spring is arriving. We still have vacancies for May which is a lovely time to visit - great for couples to have a relaxing break. Long warm days without the intense summer heat makes this an ideal time for sight seeing. The peak summer months are fairly booked up now - mainly with returning guests and their friends! September is a popular time too so do not leave it too long before securing your dates! Muaffak and Aynur will be with us again this season so you will be well looked after!

2009 was our busiest season to date, and it was lovely to enjoy the company of so many previous guests as well as new ones. Our time away sailing together with family commitments in UK resulted in news from Gocek not happening! Apologies. Bookings for 2010 are picking up pace with the key school holiday weeks in demand as usual and previous guest bookings high! We will be going out in April to get ready for the season - the usual routine maintenance work, and this year we will revamp the garden and do some exterior painting. We expect a bumper lemon crop so lemon curd production will no doubt be in full swing.

Already it is July! 35c on land - the sea breeze is welcome! The garden is beautiful and the scent of blue and white jasmine in the early morning and evening is wonderful. Lemon curd production has been in full swing and now we await the ripening of another bumper crop of lemons for making more and of course fresh lemonade! The cherry harvest is at its peak and the peaches and nectarines are getting bigger and juicier! We are very busy at the villas and have just a few vacancies in Sept and Oct. Already we are getting enquiries for next season! Life here remains the same - Turkey is a lovely country.

Have just returned from a hectic working week made more pleasurable by bright blue skies, sunshine and temps of 22c. A treat to be able to dine out by the water's edge at this time of year. April is a lovely time in Gocek apart from everywhere being covered in yellow pine pollen! Everyone is coming awake after a very wet winter and working hard to prepare for the season ahead but they have time to chat over supper or a drink. The plants are beginning to grow again and the progress in one week has been amazing. A bumper crop of lemons again will ensure guests have supplies for gin and tonic and fresh lemonade! We have a newly paved road up from the village which will make walking easier.

We have had a very busy start to the season with a record number of bookings through to the end of October. We do still have some availability, especially in early June, which is a beautiful time to visit and flights are still reasonable. Please get in touch if you are interested. We are spending next week in Gocek getting ready for our first guests in early May. After a few months of fairly typical wet weather the sun is shining again and the garden is beginning to grow, having being subjected to a severe pruning and some replanting. The houses will be spring cleaned and Sevinc is ready to be launched again after regular maintenance and the winter in the boatyard. Hopefully there will still be some of the first crop of lemons on the trees awaiting lemon curd production! Will be able to update on Gocek news on our return!

Our 40' sailing yacht 'Sevinc' can be made available to guests on a private skippered charter basis. Join us for a day or combine two / three days / a week aboard with the rest of the time being spent at the villa. An excellent opportunity for those with limited previous experience or for those who have not sailed before. We adopt a 'hands on' approach for guests willing to be involved, or for the less energetic, sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery. An excellent place for sailing, the spectacular coastline reveals many small islands and sheltered bays, otherwise inaccessible. Perfect for a lunch / overnight stop!

An introduction to Villas Yasemin

Villa Yasemin is one of a pair of identical villas. The other villa is kept primarily for the use of the owner but can be rented - ideal for couples / families on holiday together. The villas are separated by a large pool - 5.5m x 10.5m and 1,3 - 1.6m in depth. Each villa is divided into 2 apartments - first floor balcony and ground floor terrace - but they are constructed to allow for the houses to be rented as a whole if required. The spacious internal area of each apt (48sqm) includes a large open plan living / dining / kitchen area with fireplace. There is a large basement providing an additional bedroom, shower room / WC, laundry facilities, large fridge freezer and dishwasher. Fragrant jasmine,roses, honeysuckle, colourful shrubs, lemon, orange trees and banana palms create an attractive walled garden.

The village with its pedestrianised walkways, shops and restaurants, many of which are by the water's edge, is a leisurely 15 min stroll away. There are three major banks with exchange facilities, several well stocked mini markets, and an excellent Sunday market with clothes, household items and all kinds of fresh local produce.

Quiet by day, the village comes alive in the evening when boats moor up for the night. You can sit and enjoy a quiet drink watching the sun go down over the mountains, and dine in one of the many waterside restaurants. Turkish cuisine is varied and based on local fresh produce. The Turks are very proud of their kitchens and offer excellent quality food and hospitality.
